About West Kentucky Chess and Our Staff
Owner, Tom Knight, has been promoting chess in Western Kentucky for almost a decade. He started a chess club at Graves County High School in the fall of 2009. Over the next 5 years he made that high school club into a district-wide chess program that is self-sustaining with funding from a district chess booster club. Last year he providing the region with its first chess camp since the passing of Dr. Wayne Bell. Since the creation of West Kentucky Chess, Tom Knight has been able to provide the region with several chess tournament opportunities; both Open and scholastic. Currently, he works to get school teams involved in the regional chess season through multi-week chess instructional classes, coaches trainings (both on the job and formal classroom setting), and advising the community on how to work with the Kentucky Chess Association, and becoming self sustaining for chess at the local-level.
